Here are 10 reasons to visit Dublin this June and exactly how to get there.

🥂 1. Dublin is Beautiful in June

Before we get to the events, let's start with the basics. June is one of Ireland's best months for weather, with long evenings stretching well past 9pm. Dublin's Georgian streets, green parks and riverside quays look their absolute best in summer light. It's the perfect city to explore on foot, and with Dublin Express dropping you directly onto O'Connell Street or Westmoreland Street, you're in the heart of it all from the moment you arrive.

Taste of Dublin is back for its 21st year and it is one of the most anticipated events on the Irish food calendar. Fifteen of the city's top restaurants set up outdoor kitchens in beautiful Merrion Square Park, serving signature dishes in tasting portions alongside cookery demonstrations, cocktail bars, wine tastings and food producer stalls. It is the ideal way to sample the best of Dublin's restaurant scene in one afternoon.

Sessions are ticketed and typically sell out, so book in advance at tasteofdublin.ie.

  • How to get there: Merrion Square is a 10-minute walk from Dublin Express stops on O'Connell Street and Westmoreland Street. From Dublin Airport, Dublin Express gets you to the city centre in under 30 minutes.

  • Dublin Express tip: Taste of Dublin is one of the busiest weekends of the early summer. Leave the car at home. Parking in the city centre on festival days is extremely limited. Dublin Express runs frequently right through the weekend.

📚 3. Bloomsday. One of the Most Unique Days in the World

Date: Tuesday 16 June 2026 Venue: Citywide. Key locations include Sandycove, Eccles Street and Merrion Square

Every year on 16th June, Dublin celebrates James Joyce's Ulysses by recreating the single day in 1904 on which the novel is set. Guided walks trace Leopold Bloom's route across the city, Edwardian costumes appear on the streets, and readings, performances and literary events run from early morning to late evening across dozens of venues. Almost all of it is free.

Bloomsday is genuinely unlike anything else in the world. There is no other city that celebrates a novel quite like this, and the atmosphere, particularly around Eccles Street and Sandycove in the morning, is something you have to experience in person.

  • How to get there: Dublin Express drops you right in the city centre, from where all major Bloomsday locations are within easy reach on foot or by Dublin Bus.

  • Dublin Express tip: Bloomsday is a Tuesday in 2026 but many of the celebrations run across the surrounding weekend too. Check the full programme at jamesjoyce.ie before you travel.
